About
American YouthWorks:
American YouthWorks (AYW), founded in 1975, prepares young adults with education, paid career training, and professional skills to enter high-demand career pathways. With locations in Austin, Houston, and Taylor, TX; Baton Rouge, LA; Oklahoma City, OK; and Springdale, AR, AYW expands access to education and workforce opportunities across the region.
YouthBuild Program:
YouthBuild is a Pre-Apprenticeship program supporting young people re-engaging with education and employment. Participants complete paid career training and industry certifications across three career tracks - IT/manufacturing, healthcare, and construction - plus mentorship and wraparound support services that prepare them for in-demand local jobs and long term careers.
Conservation Corps Programs:
Conservation Corps (CC), a program of AYW launched in 1993, offers young adults ages 18–35 work experience through projects in land management, disaster response, and wildfire prevention—building the skills, qualifications, and professional networks needed to pursue long-term careers and leadership roles in critical industries.
Green Wave Initiative:
Led by Texas Conservation Corps (TXCC) participants in Houston, the Green Wave Initiative combines community cleanup events with environmental education. Attend our events to help improve neighborhood health, reduce flood hazard and illegal waste disposal, and to enhance green space accessibility.
